Non-Grid Systems

Photovoltaic systems are not connected to the central grid and therefore need to store the generated electrical energy. Off-grid systems are much more complex than grid-connected systems.

Advantages

• This system can help you save electricity costs.
• Off-grid solar system design can serve as energy storage that will then be used as a backup power for homes.

Disadvantages

• The initial setup of the Off Grid system may require high costs. If the mains power is completely cut off, you will need a backup power source when the sun's rays are absent. Buying a battery bank or generator can increase your solar energy costs.
• Storage of solar energy is limited. Given cloudy weather for a few days, it may run out of stored electricity.
• When you live off the grid, you have to pay attention to the energy use in your home.
